Why should I create an account?

Creating an account is quick and easy and allows you to save your favorite recipes for future reference. This is a great way to save your favorites and then access them from any device (i.e. your phone, tablet, or desktop). Registering is easy and we promise not to abuse or sell your private information. See our privacy policy for more details.

How do I create an account?

Simply visit the registration page, enter your email address and choose a password. And just to be sure, we’ll ask you to type your password again to make sure we’ve got it right! Email addresses are kept confidential and we’ll never send you any email unless you ask (for example to reset your password).

How do I save recipes?

As you’re browsing around Smackeral, you’ll see recipe images with a small heart in the upper righthand corner. Just click the heart and select a collection from the menu. The default collection is called “Favorites.” See the image below to get an idea of what it looks like.

Can I create groups or collections of recipes?

Yes!! You can create new collections quickly and easily. When saving a recipe, just type the name of your new collection and click Add. This will create your collection AND save your recipe. You can then add more recipes to a collection by clicking the collection name while saving a new recipe. You can even save the same recipe to multiple collections if you want. Give it try! We bet you’ll find it quicker and easier than reading this!

What if I want to remove a recipe?

Removing a recipe is easy. Go to the My Favorites page by either clicking the menu option or clicking the small star icon in the Favorites popup. From there you’ll see all of your Favorites organized by collection. To remove a recipe, click the X on the top-right corner of the image. You can also remove entire collections by click the X next to the collection name. Be careful though…there’s no undo! Once you remove a recipe or collection it will no longer be saved. Of course you can always go find the recipe and add it back and/or recreate the collection.

Here’s what you’ll see (not including our comments) when you click the little heart…
